A perfect diet is quite essential for humans for a healthy living. Just like air and water, food is equally important for the existence of humans. A regular intake of important nutrients like of proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, amino acids and fats is required to create a proper balance in the human body.

Milk is the prime source of nutrients which offers strength and activeness to our body. According to the reports, a normal adult must consume a least 2-3 glasses of milk on a regular basis. Milk is rich in calcium which is required for keeping our bones healthier. Around 400 to 500 milligrams of calcium every day is required to curb any type of bone illness or disorder. The habit of drinking milk must be taught at an early age. Infants and small children must be fed milk in frequent intervals for an excellent physical growth. There are numerous benefits of milk which makes it an essential commodity on a global scale.

What is organic milk?

  1. The international dairy market and even the Indian dairy market are dominated by processed milk. That is, milk is treated with chemicals such as glucose, starch, urea, formalin and detergents.
  2. This is a wrong practice which is deteriorating the quality of milk. Processed milk is low on nutrients in comparison to fresh milk.
  3. Cow’s milk is very rare to find in the urban regions of India and that is why people are left with no option apart from ‘regular’ processed milk.
  4. Organic cow milk is that grade of milk which is not treated with any type of additive.
  5. The main focus is on the cattle. The cows are offered with organic food items such as grass, fodder, etc.
  6.  No hormones or antibiotics are used to increase the production rate of cattle.
  7. Organic milk is creamier and rich in nutrients.
  8. This fresh form of milk is helpful in checking the balance of omega-6 and omega-3 in the human body.

Milk in India

  1. The production of milk in India is majorly confined to the states of Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. The top milk producing state is Gujarat which was the centre during the White Revolution. 
  2. There is a large-scale manufacturing of items which are produced using milk such as cheese, ghee, butter, etc.
  3.  According to 2014-15 reports, India produced 147 million tons of milk which makes it the world leader in milk production.
  4.  Farm fresh milk is distributed by some popular brands such as Doctor Moo and Pride of Cows.
