The U.S research shows the medical care of
autistic children, there are differences due to ethnicity. Generally, Caucasian
children get more resources than African-American or Hispanic children. It is
the first time that large American study talks about the association between
autism risk and air pollution levels. The result shows that autistic children of
different ethnic groups have different degree of access to medical care.
According to the reports, a new report has
been published in the June 18 issue of the American Pediatrics. The research is
conducted by a Harvard
Medical School
professor James Perrin. The report shows that the researchers tracked 3,615
autistic patient's medical condition, with ethnic different background. It is
the first time that large American study talks about the association between
autism risk and air pollution levels.
The researchers pointed out that the cause
of these differences may occur for several reasons, including different healthy
conditions, different further handling diagnose and different frequencies. Some
patients fail to see the doctor on a regular basis. Perrin told the U.S. CBS:
"I hope pediatricians know autistic children’s different access to medical resources. Parents should pay
attention to their children if there is some unusual behavior. They should know
whether the child is in physical discomfort."
Harvard University study
found that serious air pollution has a bad impact on pregnant women. The rate
of children born with autism will double. Harvard study result has published in
Environmental Health Perspectives. the researchers use the Environmental
Protection Agency to provide information on air pollution. The research also
takes into account of family income, education, and smoking during pregnancy
and other factors.
Harvard researchers analyzed and found that
pregnant women who live in a high mercury environment are more likely to give
birth to autistic children. Studies have shown that high lead, manganese,
methylene chloride and metal alloys and other pollutants in air will have
negative impact on pregnant women.
