Dermal Fillers Toronto are a popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure. Their capacity to add volume to the targeted area helps to address many concerns. It is used for adding volume and smoothening out fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are also used for lip augmentation and non-surgical rhinoplasty. Hyaluronic Acid is the key ingredient in dermal fillers. It occurs naturally in the body, making this a natural treatment. HA works to add volume to the injected sight by attracting water molecules and holding them in place.

The treatment is simple and takes about 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the areas being targeted. There are very few side effects associated with the treatment. Bruising and swelling are the common side effects associated with it. This can be brought reduced by taking the right steps. These are some crucial steps that you can take from your end.

Avoid Blood thinning medication

Once you’ve decided to undergo the dermal filler treatment, you must avoid blood thinning medication for about 2 weeks before the appointment. Consuming them can increase swelling and bruising. It also adds to the recovery time after the injection. During this time, avoid taking Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Advil and Aleve. Also avoid consuming Vitamin E, fish oils, green tea and ginseng. A list of medications to avoid will be shared with you. Even after the filler treatment is done, it is suggested to continue avoiding them till the bruising and swelling have disapparated.

Avoid Smoking

It can be difficult to not smoke, especially if you smoke regularly. For at least two weeks before the injection appointment, avoid smoking. This will help to bring down the chances of bruising. However, if unable to do so, the recovery time will increase.

Avoid consuming alcohol

For at least 24 hours before your appointment, ensure that you don’t consume alcohol. If possible do not drink for longer than 24 hours, that will be great. It is also recommended to avoid alcohol consumption for about 24 hours after the treatment also.

Remain Hydrated

Before the treatment, ensure that you are well hydrated. Also, eat before the appointment and ensure that you eat.

Avoid Touching

Once the filler has been injected you might feel the urge to massage and touch the treated area. It can be difficult to beat the urge, but it is suggested to avoid touching or massaging for at least the first 24 hours after the treatment.

Warm and Cold Compress

Right after the treatment, you will be provided with an ice pack. This will help to settle some swelling. After the first 24 hours, you can switch over to a warm compress. Using this can help to bring about fresh blood to the area. This will help to flush away the bruise and settle the swelling.

No high intensity work out

For the first 24 hours, avoid working out or lifting heavy. This can increase blood pressure. When that happens, the chances of bruising and swelling increase.
