Do you ever worry about the size of your pores? Sometimes they seem larger on certain areas of your face such as the chin, nose and forehead but in fact, they don’t change size. What happens is they get clogged up with oil and dead skin cells which can, if they become infected with bacteria, lead to pimples. While in many cases this doesn’t happen these blockages tend to manifest as blackheads which make the pore look enlarged. It is impossible to entirely eliminate the oil produced through the pores nor should this desired as they provide an important function. As the channels that hair follicles grow through they act as the delivery system for the skin’s natural moisturizer, sebum which originates in the glands at the root of the hair follicle.
However, the best way to reduce the appearance of pores is to keep them clear by regular cleansing and following up with a toner such as Maxatone by Solvaderm.

Bio Hydrating Astringent
When used following a foaming cleanser such as Solvaderm’s Dermpura, this bio hydrating astringent works to reduce the build up of impurities and soothe inflammation around the pores to minimize their appearance. This is a particularly important step for those with oily skin as it provides an environment that allows bacteria to develop and can lead to breakouts and acne. By keeping the pores clear, the sebum can move up the hair follicle and through the channel without getting caught up with dead skin cells that cause blockages. Traditional astringents such as witch hazel are effective at reducing the amount of oil on the skin but on their own can also be drying, even to those with oily skin. Maxatone has been developed to gently remove oil while allowing the skin to retain a certain amount of necessary moisture. This balance also makes it suitable for other skin types that are more sensitive or prone to dryness.

Gentle Enough For Dry Skin
Even those with dry skin can occasionally suffer from enlarged pores and breakouts and while rarer, the mechanism of action is the same. Exfoliating can also be a problem for those with dry and sensitive skin as it can cause irritation, therefore, is carried out less regularly. This can lead to a greater amount of dead skin cells on the surface so, while acne is rarely a problem, pores can still get blocked. In fact, those with dry skin are more likely to get whiteheads as the entire pore is blocked rather than the dirt and oil that appears at the surface that creates a blackhead. Toning is therefore, important to keep pores clear while removing cells from the surface and retaining moisture. Maxatone contains a number of ingredients which moisturize and clarify including lavender and calendula extracts, which balance out the astringent qualities of the witch hazel and symphytumofficinale (yes, we had to look it up too!)

When it comes to keeping your pores clean, Maxatone by Solvaderm is just the tonic!
