A magnetic flow meter is also known as an electromagnetic flow meter or mag meter. The meter is used for measuring the flow of electrically conductive liquids. This device is widely used in wastewater applications and other applications, where there is a problem of low-pressure drop and the right amount of liquid conductivity is required.

The meter works on the principle of Faraday's law, which explains that when a conductor moves through a magnetic field of a strength, then a voltage produced is proportional to the velocity between the conductor and the magnetic field.

• Primary elements, which are installed straight on the process line.
