The Popularity of Craft Beer

by Kevin Smith Author

It’s no secret that craft beer is on the rise. The popularity of craft beer has boomed over the years as millennials have gotten into their 20s and 30s. The fact that craft beer isn’t (usually) developed by major beer corporations is often appealing to younger generations, but that by no means is the only draw to craft beer. There are still many reasons to select a craft beer.

There are several distinct differences between mainstream and craft beer to keep in mind while seeking small craft beer in Suwanee, GA.

Mainstream Appeal

The differences between craft beer and traditional beer are vast. For instance, many people are familiar with traditional beers, as they’re usually created by major companies and widely distributed. Ads for major traditional beers are ubiquitous, therefore increasing their popularity.

Craft beers are created by smaller breweries and are typically regional or local. Although some craft breweries have a high level of distribution and therefore are more popular throughout the country, most are limited to a specific region or city. Craft beers usually have not (or haven’t yet) reached commercial appeal, but that doesn’t mean that they’re any lessor or inferior.

Taste

Craft beers are created entirely to have a unique taste. Mainstream beers are usually brewed to have a consistent, well-known flavor. Some people describe it as mainstream beers “tasting like beer,” whereas craft beers taste like molasses, sugar, hops, sour, and so on. They’re crafted specifically to add unique flavors to the existing beer taste. Although there are both mainstream and craft versions of such classic types of beer as IPAs, lagers, pilsners, porters, stouts, and so on, with craft beer the idea of a creative and unique flavor is the goal for brewers.

Traditional beers, due in part to their mainstream appeal, usually have a classic and straightforward image in an attempt to appeal to a wider variety of people. Craft beers, on the other hand, tend to have a different image and a different vibe, and in many ways have more character. The fact that they’re different and out of the ordinary is a large part of their appeal to younger generations. Craft beers usually have edgy names, unique logos, and try to give off a vibe for a particular type of person or group of people.

Craft beer is on the rise, and there are several factors to consider when seeking out small craft beer in Suwanee, GA.
