The Most Popular Case Study on Electrical Engineering
by James Jon hello my name is James jonEngineers have the capability to
develop new inventions which may affect the livelihood of thousands of people
or even billions of people. Since so many people are opting for the new
inventions it is quite safe for people. But if we look closely, we get to know
that Engineers is developing new innovations which are useful for people, it’s
their ethic responsibility to ensure it will not endanger any living species.
This article explains the issues faced by electrical engineers while making new
inventions with the help of a case study. You can also hire Electrical Engineering Case Study help,
if you want to get in-depth detail of the topic.
According to studies, the
toughest situations is mostly faced by Electrical engineers rather than any
other field as this field have to face major ethical dilemmas. Because this
field widely used for power generation and transmission lines which are being
used in desktops.
Discussion on Issues
The current dilemmas are solved
with the help of ethical analysis which taken as a solution. However, they face
three main issues that are Commercial success of Electrical Engineers Versus
Quality of product. The second issue is the experimental nature of electrical
and third one is sustainability and power generation. In this article, we will
focus on the very first issue that is Commercial Success of Electrical
Engineering assignment vs quality product.
Manufacturer and Electrical Engineer Goals
Generally, manufactures overrated
the commercial success of engineers rather than the quality of products which
become the reason of conflict between these two, i.e. manufacturer and
engineer. Where manufacturer solely works on financial gain, electrical
engineers have to hold the paramount of welfare according to “engineering code
of ethics”.
Intel Case study
An example of above explanation
is Intel microprocessor. They made a processor which was having a regular flaw
that offered wrong output. Electrical engineers knew that problems, as soon as
they get to know this major flaw, they rectified in the future version. In
spite of this, Intel continued this product for selling and decided to replace
that flaw processor with the new one only when people find the requirement of
that new processor. Should Intel have to replace it instead? Though Intel knew
the flaw is that fair for it to proceed with the flaw processor? If warning or
information had been included on that processor would resolve the ethical
problems of the company? Of course, it would. But According to Intel, since the
error was a trifle, it would not affect a large number of AT users. However, if
anybody wants the replacement, then they will offer free rectified processor.
That was actually done by Intel company. But the point is why it did not raise
the alarm of flaw processor?
Solution Could Intel Taken
If one will apply Kantian Ethics,
he could determine that Intel did not respect the sentiments and dignity of
users. Despite they used as a means of maximizing the sales by distributing
faulty stock in the market. Whereas Intel could have resolved this problem if
they mentioned warning label so that in future customers had knowledge of flaw.
Or Intel can directly talk straightaway for its faulty processor and provide
them with a replacement chip. Still, these steps were not taken.
