by Priti Das Marketing Executive
There are hidden costs associated with the repair or replacement of a damaged plastic water storage tank. At some point, the damage is less and you can repair the tank and at some point, the damage is a major one and you need to replace your old tank with a new one. Wear and tear is a very natural phenomenon that can affect your tank. Many buyers only calculate the purchasing price of the tank and the delivery charge while deciding whether to repair or replace the tank. However, there are other factors as well on which you need to focus.

Here are some overlooked factors that are associated with the repair services of a domestic water storage tank or a commercial water storage tank –

It includes travel time.

The time required for onsite inspection and repair work will also need money. Plastic water storage tanks are warranted for 5 years in general, but the fittings are warranted for 90 days. The manufacturer will expect you to cover the cost of all the repair parts if your tank or the fittings are not under warranty.

Drain the entire tank

In most cases, you will require to drain the entire water and then only the plumbers will be able to start the repair work. If it is a commercial tank, then it might contain chemicals and repairing a chemical tank means you need to shift that content to another tank or even you might require to lose the content of the damaged tank, which again would involve more money.

Now, here are some overlooked factors that are associated with the replacement of a plastic water storage tank –

Temporary day tank – An industrial unit requires an uninterrupted supply of water on a daily basis. Thus, you need to bring a temporary tank while the new one is being manufactured and shipped. However, till then, you can buy a small plastic water storage tank for temporary use.

Tank removal – It is a very difficult task to get the old tank out of the building. The plumbers will need to disconnect the piping, pumps, and other accessories, and then the tank needs to be taken out of the building. If the tank is too large then it might need to be cut up and then removed.

Installation of the new tank – You might need to remove the paneling or roofing to lift the new tank inside the building with a crane if the tank is too large.

Repair or replace? Which one to choose?

Replacing a tank is more expensive than repairing it. Just because you can repair a tank, does not mean you will always go with the repair option. Talk with poly tank experts who can guide you with the advantages and disadvantages of repairing your plastic water storage tank. Once you have identified the fault, talk to an expert. Try to opt for the repair option first as it is going to be less expensive. But if you find replacing the tank is more beneficial than repairing, go for that only.

So, these were some of the overlooked factors associated with the repair or replacement of your plastic water storage tank. Make proper planning so that you can make your tank last for a long time.
