The effort put into manufacturing of each Gadwal saree

by Aarushi Reddy studant

Sarees have been famous in the Indian sub-continent since it was first discovered back in the Indus valley civilisation during the 2800–1800 BC. The word Saree is taken from Sanskrit which means a ‘strip of cloth’. It is worn tucked at the waist into and over a petticoat.

This unstitched cloth is commonly worn tucked into the waist and wrapped around the legs to make a long skirt. It is then thrown over the shoulder covering the upper body wearing a blouse. This style of dressing saree is called as the Nivi style which originated in Andhra Pradesh. Sarees are manufactured using diverse colour, motif, pattern and weave over the untailored length. There are three parts in a Saree which are-

•An end piece or pallu

•A field or Jamin

•Border or kinara

Sarees are manufactured differently in the north and south India. A style of weaving sarees in South India called as the Gadwal sarees wholesale is quite popular. These sarees make use of bright colors like Rich magenta, electric blue or parrot green. They are so light in weight that a full 5.5 m Gadwal saree can fit into a matchbox.

Gadwal sarees have been famous since the 1930s, and the silk border of these sarees makes them stand out. These sarees have a simple look about them but with a sophisticated elegance to them.

In the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, there is another famous saree known as the Uppada pattu sarees wholesale.  A single saree takes 10 to 60 days when 2-3 weavers work on it and spend 10 hours each. This saree is only made with hands, and thus it takes around two months for a Saree to be completed.

The popularity and demand of sarees are not going away. Jyothisareemandir is an online store for Indian traditional wedding wear. They provide exclusive discounts to shoppers every Tuesday. Visit today to shop for new pattu sarees.
