The Discontent and Divide of Generation Gap - Millennials v/s Generation X and Baby Boomers

by Clayton Clive Blogger
Generation gap is as old as civilization in all probabilities. There is a perpetual gap and this very disconnect was never this evident than it is now. Millennials are perceived to be the people who do not know the science and art of taking orders and sticking to the task. They work on the principle of instant gratification, all thanks to the technology they are so in tune with, that it is almost a body part. When it comes to work, they see their profession as one of the many means to achieve a personal meaning in life. The view is idealistic, almost utopian, may be, but in traditional industries it may cost production many points.

But then…
  • Millennials who associate loyalty to the company with their pay package
  • The ones who think work-life balance is important
  • Millennials who are ambitious and target driven
  • Millennials who are not planning to change their jobs in the coming six months

The percentage of these millennials are nearly the same as that of the generation before them. However, when it comes to their perception of older generation they think that they are not in tune with modern technology. Another common view of the older generation is that they do not get the aspirations of the younger generation. Millennials are more collaborative and transparent in their working style, though there is a major work left on the interpersonal skill side. They need companies that are future forward. In few years companies need to see the road that lies ahead.
