Mindfulness and meditation are two concepts that are beginning to be more and more known throughout the world. Mindfulness is a type of psychotherapy that can be directed by a psychologist, such as a psychologist in Brick. Meditation can be self-taught or taught by someone who knows how to use it and when. It can sometimes be difficult to understand the difference between these two concepts. If you feel like you want to know more, then this article is made for you!

  • Mindfulness

Mindfulness refers to a branch of psychology, such as a psychologist in Brick, where the main goal is to pay attention and notice yourself and your surroundings while being entirely present in every action that you are conducting. Being mindful, in that sense, will mean noticing the world surrounding you, your movements, your behaviors, your thoughts, you’re feeling and the affects you have on others in general. You have the possibility to practice mindfulness with any person that you want, or alone, as well as anywhere and anytime as long as you’re fully engaged in the present moment. By being mindful, you will involve yourself in an activity fully, by using the entirety of your senses, while enjoying the present moment. Mindfulness can be applied to literally any situation during the day, without a real specific amount of time, it all depends on you. Most of the time, people will tend to think about a million things at a time, and go about their day with a sort of autopilot mode without realizing it. Running your brain on autopilot will tend to make you stressed and anxious because you won’t be thinking about too much at the same time while doing a lot of action. Being mindful will help you avoid that state of mind and feel better.

  • Meditation in Brick

Meditation is a practice that will be used during a specific amount of time, unlike mindfulness. When you’re meditating, you will try to focus on your breath and be aware of your mind wandering around. The goal of this practice is to notice the wander of your mind and to bring in back in other to focus on the task you want to accomplish. With meditation in Brick, one will develop his/her capacity to be aware of his/her thoughts and make a choice based on that. To meditate, you need to be in a peaceful place and to dedicate yourself a certain  amount of time to practice it. It can sometimes be really hard to focus on your meditation, especially if you’re feeling extremely stressed or if you have some issues with controlling your thoughts.  If it’s the case, it might take a significant amount of time for you to truly enter a state of meditation. Generally speaking, being able to meditate is no easy task. It will take time and practice to be able to fully control your thoughts and let go of any stress or issues polluting your mind. The important part to understand is that, even if mindfulness and meditation are different, they have common points. At the end, meditation is one possible way to arrive in a mindful state of mind.
