The Difference of UI and UX Design

by Jace Harold Writer
UI and UX design are the two of the most complex and confusing terms in the web and application design and development. Reason is because it is usually placed together like UI/UX design and if people view form that they will have a huge connotation that it’s probably the same thing. It’s usually really hard to find the difference between these two but we research and come up with something.

When you end this article, you will have a basic knowledge on the difference between these two and also what relates them to each other. Let’s start!

UI Design

A graphic layer of application is called “user interface” and in this instance “UI”. It consists of every action the user will make, the buttons he or she clicked, the text messages or text in an article that they read, text entry fields, Sliders, images and all of the rest actions and aspect that the user will interact with. This also includes screen transitions, interface animations and each and every single one of micro interactions that the user will have. Any form of visual interaction, element or animation should be designed.

UI designers are the people behind this. Each one of them has a certain preference on what the application or a web will look like. They are choosing the button colors, the theme and the actual color scheme - the fonts of the texts, the actual measurement of the line at the side of a certain application. They are the ones in charge of the overall visual presence and the user experience of an application user interface.

UX Design

“User experience” is the correct meaning of “UX”. This is being determined by how the user interact with the application. Is the overall experience of the app smooth and easy to get or is it a little bit lagged or clunky or confusing? Is navigating the application inconsistent or logical? Is the people using the app having the satisfaction that they want to have or it gives them more struggle? And since UX is the overall user experience, this is determined by how a certain user will find the application easy or confusing based by the user interface that the UI designers made.

The UX designer is also a part of the application interface. This is where the confusion started. UI designers are in charge of how a certain application will look whereas the UX designers heads on how the user interface will work and operate.

Technically, on a certain project the UI and UX design company are working hand in hand. When the UX designer work on how the button will work, where should it navigates the users, and how the overall interface serves up the information that the user will need, the UI designers are working on how all these elements will look on the screen.

The user experience design agency and User interface designers needs to have a constant communication and collaboration to help them assure that the final application will look good as it can while it is working efficiently and giving satisfaction to each user.
