Instagram is a community and platform where moments are shared. If there is any group of persons whose work depends on regularly sharing bits of their lives with others, it’s the celebrities. Now, the more the number of followers on a celebrity’s instagram page, the better.

There are lots of celebrities in the world, with almost all of them raking millions of followers on their pages. As of recent count, the celebrity with the most number of followers broke the 200 million mark. While you’ll probably think it has to be either of Ariana Grande or Taylor swift, it’s neither.

You would expect that a female celebrity should be the one with the most number of followers. However, you’ll be surprised to learn that it’s a male celebrity who leads the others. This celebrity is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Just in case you wonder who that is, Cristiano is a professional Football Player for the Italian Club, Junvetus. He also plays for the Portuguese National Team. When he clocked the milestone number of Instagram followers, he took to the platform to announce. “Wow 200 million!!! Thank you to each and every one of you for sharing this journey with me every day!!”

Actually, the title of the most followed on Instagram has been Ronaldo’s since 2018. In that year, he had surpassed Selena Gomez as the most followed person on Instagram. Ariana Granda is also a tad closer to Ronaldo than the others, having about 173 million followers. Selena Gomez now currently sits at third place with 167 million followers.

Ronaldo is best known for posting images from his training session and competitive matches. He also posts photos of his family, friends and others in the closer circle of his life. His followership is not unexpected as virtually everyone wants to see what is happening in the life of one of the most celebrated football players in the world.

Ariana had surpassed Gomez in 2019 as the most followed woman on the platform. This was thanks to the 13 million followers she gained in the space of 4 months. These figures were made available by Billboard. This surge in followership is thanks to the success of her new album and her engagement to Pete Davidson.

Ronaldo, one of the best football players to go down in history has four children with his partner Georgina Rodriquez. Ronaldo is also very popular on Twitter just as he is on Instagram. Although, he is not the most popular on the platform for Tweets. However, he is on the list of top 10 people being followed on Twitter with the likes of Barack Obama, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Justin Beiber, etc.

Ronaldo’s career as a footballer is going towards its end, with many anxious of the day he would hang his boots. Many wish that day would never come. However, as a sport where there is a degree of physicality involved, it’s only a matter of time before the celebrity announces his retirement. There is, however, no doubt about the sustenance of his celebrity status.
