The Best Subaru Family Cars

At some point in your life you will know it is time to look at choosing a family car. The range of cars on the market is simply stunning and it will be impossible to test drive them all!  One manufacturer that may not spring instantly to mind is Subaru, the Impreza WRX is known for its rally car pedigree; a four door sedan which can go as fast as any sports car!

Subaru is also known for its ability to produce four wheel drive vehicles; in fact nearly every vehicle which has been produced is four wheel drives.  This has made it a favourite with many farm workers as the cars can be taken on and off road, with the comfort of a sedan car and the luggage carrying capabilities of a small van.

Of all the range, the Subaru Forester is potentially the best family car available today; there are many reasons as to why it would make an excellent all purpose machine:

Size

Find a Subaru Forester for sale and you will be able to see the sheer amount of space available inside.  The vehicle is aimed firmly at the compact SUV sector but has the biggest trunk in the Subaru range and one of the biggest in its’ class.  There is plenty of room inside for the family or even two adults and three children.  Even the headroom in the rear provides ample room for tall people.

Spec

The car comes with a standard boxer style engine; these are horizontally mounted.  It has all wheel drive and a no nonsense attitude.  You can choose from a 2.5 litre four cylinder engine with 170 horsepower, or, its more powerful brother; the 2.0 litre turbocharged which produces an impressive 250 horsepower.  An automatic gearbox is the only option on any of the vehicles with premium spec or higher.

Options and Extras

At first glance the interior of the car may seem functional but not particularly exciting.  However, once you have had the opportunity to look inside properly you will find a host of small items which make this an excellent family car:

·         Child seats are quick and easy to install; everything is accessible and the headrests can be removed in seconds to facilitate positioning the anchor correctly.

·         Items in the trunk of any vehicle tend to slide around, but not in the Forester.  It comes with a rubberized tray with lipped edges which sits snugly in the trunk and ensures nothing can slide around while you’re driving.

·         There are not many nooks and crannies for children to leave bits and pieces or crumbs in.  This makes it much easier to keep the car clean and tidy.

If you wish to buy a brand new vehicle you will need to visit your local dealer, if you are happy to have a pre-owned vehicle you will find a vast selection in local dealerships, online auction houses and private adverts.  It may be time consuming looking at all the options but you will find just the right car for your needs and budget.
