The Best Attorneys For Your Accident Claims

Attorneys That Are Not Qualified

There are certain things an attorney must know to maintain a quality Accident Law Office.  The attorneys that fail to achieve positive results most often cause their clients to suffer due to the following reasons:

(i)Lack of Knowledge.  Even though the laws pertinent to personal injury matters continually evolve, continuing legal education classes (that are in fact required by law) are available to keep them up-to-date.  Many attorneys neglect this obligation, often resulting in the failure to properly prosecute a case, resulting in reduced awards for client, if not none at all.

(ii)Failure to Know Pertinent Medical Information.  Attorneys that fail often do so because they have an “I’m the lawyer, not the doctor” mentality.  As a result, these attorneys do not understand the injuries of their clients and cannot explain it to a judge or jury.  Nor will they be able to ask questions of a doctor to get such explanations out, factors that are likely to torpedo a case.
(iii)Lack of Experience.  Harvard, Yale and other top-tier law schools are outstanding.  But the ability to properly try a case is not learned in law school, but in the “real world.”  An attorney with a nice diploma will be no match for the grizzled veteran, who has the institutional knowledge as well as the relationships with judges, court staff and other attorneys to help resolve your case in a positive and efficient manner.

(iv)Dishonesty.  Without integrity, both with client, judges and other attorneys, an attorney will have a bad reputation and will not be afforded the same opportunities to achieve a positive result for a client as an attorney who is respected and truthful.  How to gauge an attorney’s credibility?  If she promises you a million-dollar award without having performed any investigation, she is dishonest.  Run away.
(v)Lack of Commitment.  Just like marriage, the lawyer-client relationship is one requiring commitment.  When your attorney does not commit to put the required work into your case, it is time for a “break-up.”

(vi)Disrespect.  Your attorney must give and receive respect.  Indeed, a disrespected “ambulance chaser” is not going to be taken seriously and, as a result, faces an uphill battle when it comes to achieving a positive result for the client.
(vii)Weak Trial and Negotiation Skills.  Although nobody wants to endure the time and expense of a trial, if an attorney is known not to be able to try cases, there is less incentive for a defendant to settle a case, knowing that a trial is more likely to result in a defense verdict.  At trial, attorneys must know how to deliver opening and closing statements, question witnesses properly, the rules of evidence and much, much more.
