It is not uncommon for women to desire larger breasts. Many may want to achieve this without the use of implants. There are also situations where a breast may need to be reconstructed because of a lumpectomy or mastectomy. Other woman may want to correct the size or shape of their breast because of genetics. Some may have underdeveloped breasts. Fat transfer breast augmentation is a procedure that enables women to have fuller and better-shaped breasts using their own natural fat cells.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation
This procedure has been part of the medical world for over a hundred years. For decades, physicians have been utilizing a patient's own fat cells to restore areas of their body impacted by injury, illness or as a way to improve appearance. The surgeons involved understand what women face when experiencing breast cancer treatment and more. Hundreds of these types of surgeries are safely performed every year.

Second Surgery Breast Reconstruction
A post lumpectomy is a secondary surgery. During this process, fat is injected into the divot that occurred when an oncological surgeon eliminates unhealthy tissue from the breast. A post-mastectomy is a single state breast reconstruction process. This is also a secondary surgery. The process is for fat to be injected around a breast implant area. This will provide a patient with a natural and fuller breast appearance.

The Process
One the first things that happen during the process is for a surgeon to choose a donor site on the patient's body. This could be the thigh, flanks or stomach. Fat is taken from the donor site utilizing a specialized liposuction technique. It is designed to keep healthy fat cells from being destroyed. Once the fluid is suctioned, it is then processed into pure fat. This is done to make a higher enriched concentration of stem cells. It is important to understand stem cells have a special ability to rejuvenate. Hundreds of tiny individual fat droplets are injected into the breast area with an instrument known as a cannula. This step will keep bleeding from small blood vessels in the area to a minimum. This is also what makes it possible to transfer fat cells without any of them dying. The injected fat will become incorporated with the patient's current fat cells present. This way the breasts are enlarged naturally. This makes it possible to enhance the healing as well as provide better results.

After the Surgery
When the procedure is over, a woman will experience some bruising and swelling in the breast area as well as the location where the fat was removed. Patients normally experience little or no discomfort. There could be moderate discomfort from the liposuction area. A compression garment is provided. This will minimize swelling from the affected areas. It is recommended that a patient avoid any compression of their breasts for a two-week period. The use of a bra needs to be avoided as well as sleeping on the stomach.

Benefits
A patient can experience retention of up to 80 percent of the fat transferred. The fat that takes after the procedure is a permanent part of the breast. No incisions are made during the augmentation procedure. Small ports are made in the skin and may heal with no scar. Patients are able to have a slimmer area of their body from where the fat was removed. Most patients are able to return to their jobs within five days.
