As one of the ranks of the millions of unemployed in the United States I have grown with leaps and bounds. I wish to share my insights with the rest of the world and hope that those that are experiencing similar conditions find strength from the experiences I am living. To those who are living in fear that you may be next, find comfort in the fact that if you really dig down deep you will find some answers.

I have created a list of my insights on being a 99er. If you have no Idea what a 99er is you can read my story and gain a better understanding as to why I write about this.

When In The 99er World You Learn,

  • 1. Working in the material world seems so easy compared to the amount of work you have to do just to sustain your life living in the 99er world.

  • 2. Friends you have had in the past now look at you like you want something from them. All you ever want from them is a sympathetic ear so you can vent, but I guess they have other ideas. Now all of a sudden you are avoided and shunned because everyone thinks you are looking for a handout.

  • 3 .You learn that there are Government programs that you never knew existed. I have learned that I will never question where my tax dollars are going again because all the years I have paid and complained I never realized that one day they would come back to me when I needed them most.

  • 4. The people out there with a job and what they perceive to be job security are the ones laughing at you and thinking that you are the failure. They are the ones that talk the loudest and act like they are now above you. They are the ones who get cocky and make sure they tell you that it’s your fault that you are in this situation in the first place. They are the ones that when the walls come crashing down, they will fall the hardest and I will make sure that I will be the one to put out my hand and help them up because the rejection will be devastating to them.

  • 5. The very last thing I take from this experience is the most important of all. I have learned that I have gained integrity, strength and unity in the struggles of life and the value of those three things cannot be matched.

Integrity:

  • In the struggles of life you feel an indescribable desperation and somehow you gain a vision that should be experienced by everyone at least once in their lifetime. This one single act of desperation builds such character it is life changing and gives you a view of yourself you would have never realized otherwise.

Strength:

  • Your ability to dig way down deep and pull out all the stops becomes unstoppable. With all brick walls, bumps in the road and hurdles you struggled to navigate and have stopped you in the past become not an option to you anymore. You must find a way. All the fears you may have had in the past are now not an option for you. Moving forward is all you have left so that’s what you do without question.

Unity:

  • All your friends, your family and your peers who have suffered with you may it be from experiencing the hardship through your eyes or experiencing it with you. Somehow you build a community and stronghold with everyone working together and gaining insight and the knowledge to propel yourself into another level of consciousness. I can only add this quote from Freddy Mercury; “We are the champions my friend and we’ll keep on fighting until the end” That says it all.
