When it comes to entertainment through cinema, India tops the list globally. Bollywood, as the film industry of India is popularly known, dishes out as many as 1500-2000 movies per year, making it stand at the top of the list of average movie releases per year. Although, majority of these movies don’t go into the profit-making category but there are still enough to keep the producers and production houses interested year after year. The year of 2019 has seen the back of 8 months and there are still a number of flicks that are expected and anticipated to do good on the box office.

Here is the list of some movies that did well on the box office so far in 2019 and delivered on their promises of some good upcoming movie trailers:

Uri: The Surgical Strike

The year 2019 kicked off in style with the much-anticipated Uri: The Surgical Strike hitting the box office and causing a huge roar to welcome the new year. Based on the reply of Indian army to the terrorist attack on Pathankot and Uri army camps, this movie won hearts and ruled the box office for quite some time.

Gully Boy

This movie was loved even before it released. Based on the true “rags to riches” story of two gully boy hip hoppers of Mumbai, Divine and Naezy, actor Ranveer Singh absolutely nailed the role of Murad. The audience went gaga over the movie and Zoya Akhter was once again the centre stage of the Bollywood directorial circle.

Bharat

This year Eid special of the “Bhai of Bollywood”, Salman Khan was the pre-independence story of Bharat. Pairing up with Katrine Kaif yet again after Tiger Zinda Hai, the magic worked once again for him as the film racked up impressive monetary numbers on the box office.

Kesari

This Akshay Kumar starrer was based on the world’s most unequal battle, the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army managed to hold fort against 10,000 Afghan invaders. The plot and the acting of both Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra strung a chord with the audience making it one of the most successful movies of the quintessential actor and the millennial actress.

Kabir Singh

Though a lot of critics were not happy with the amount of stalking and masculinity shown in this film, but the audience absolutely loved this Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani college romance flick. The loved showered was so immense that it is, till date the most successful movie of 2019 as per numbers with Rs.372 crores in earnings, making it the biggest hit of both the protagonists.
