Tenerife, perfect place to try paragliding

So, let's start with making sure that everybody understands what paragliding actually is. It's not jumping from a helicopter and rush towards the Earth. It's flying with a wing during rather long time hovering in the air. The pilot takes off from a mountain and uses the wind to raise higher and to soar in the air. This is all about the capability to turn the dynamics of the air into your benefit. If you know well how to do it you can fly under the sky like a bird and enjoy the adventure at full extent.

Paragliding appeared comparatively short time ago. In the years 70s in France skydivers invented a special wing that allowed to stay in the air long time and move in any direction you choose. Then each year this sport spread more around the world and now in any coutry you can find a school where you can learn to fly on your own. Why are people so attracted to this kind of sport? The answer is simple. It's really beautiful up there. When you are flying you have a feeling that you stopped being a human, you are a bird soaring above the land. From that height you enjoy the views you can´t see from beneath. It´s spectacular! Wherever you fly gorgeous panoramic views are just around you. Thus paragliding has become a popular way to discover the beauty of the world.

One of the most famous places to do paragliding is Tenerife. There are a lot of mountains that all surround the biggest volcano situated in the very heart of the island - el Teide. This is the highest point of Spain and it´s a very special ocasion for all pilots to fly from Teide. No sense to say it´s amazing. Just try to imagine that you start from the famous volcano and fly above the green valleys that divide volcanoes into several chains; you enjoy the views to the ocean, other islands (that for sure you can see from this height), tipical Canary towns, banana plantations, vineyards and many others. When you start at 2200 meters high you are above the clouds that are hold permanently by the mountains and then you go just through them that would be a very unusual experience for anyone.

There are other starting points too, both in the south and north of the island, so you can explore different coasts of Tenerife. 

If you haven´t tried paragliding yet you can do a try flight that is in tandem with a pilot. You don´t need any special skills or preparation for that as your pilot does mostly everything for you.
