Digital Tech Trends Transforming the Workplace

The workplace of this generation has been massively transformed over the last few years, as we possibly faced the biggest disruption any generation has ever had to face. With many people now working from home or in workplaces that adopt a hybrid-type community, there is a lot of tech working to facilitate these everyday changes.

Many experts now consider the workplace a digital space where employees might not even have to come to work in order to stay productive. This has been proven, as about 45% of workers from around the world have stated that they work better remotely than they do in-office. Therefore, the workplace must adapt, and there are a number of tech trends accommodating the changes we are currently experiencing.

These are the trends leading the way:

Activity-Based Working

In the pre-pandemic workplace, many employees would spend a full 8-hour day in the office, with only about 4-5 of those hours actually spent working on tasks and projects. This is because it is simply impossible for any human to work for 8 hours straight without taking necessary breaks to enjoy claiming an online casino sign up bonus or to do something else they enjoy.

Many businesses have realized this, and have been enacting changes in their workplace model to ensure that when workers actually work, they are at their most productive. This means that software like TimeDoctor is starting to be adopted whereby employees can hit a timer when they start an activity and purely work while that timer is running.

By doing this, workers won’t necessarily spend a full 8 hours in the workplace. Rather, they will only work when their timer is running, so that their full focus can be on their task during that period of time. This type of activity-based-working is becoming more and more popular in 2022.

Hybrid Meetings

Hybrid meetings have been around since the pandemic started and it has become commonplace for a few employees to go into the office and a few to stay and work from home.

These hybrid meetings don’t look like they are going away anytime soon as businesses have accepted that some people are simply more productive when working from home, while some work better on site. Allowing people to work to their preferences is the best way to maximize the potential and happiness of the workplace. Tech like Zoom, Skype, Slack and Google Meet has made it possible for hybrid meetings to run smoothly and efficiently.

Adoption of Shared Desks and Office Spaces

As explained above, the number of employees who come to the office each day is dynamic and not fixed. Therefore, many companies have found it impractical and expensive to give each employee their own desk, especially if they won’t be coming into work every day.

Therefore, many of these companies have started installing larger desks and workspaces that can be utilized by anyone who comes into the office at any time. These spaces have dividers and all of the necessary tech and components needed to complete the necessary work. Companies save money this way and incentivize teamwork at the same time, so it’s a win for everyone involved.
