Team Building Events- Build Productivity and More with 5 Important Guidelines

by William Sam Consulatant
A group of people, be it a music band or a sports team or a firm, requires some amount of teamwork. It allows for sharing good interests and good ideas to create something better. Teamwork is also a major tool that helps in building productivity. Often organizations promote team building events to instill such team spirit.

Here we talk about a few guidelines that can help promote such ideas:

1. Every employee’s idea matters

Even if you are the boss of a collective, you should know that you are the boss because of your employees only. Mark Zuckerberg might be the big guy on Facebook, but surely people like Eduardo Saverin and Chris Hughes also helped in making Facebook what it is today. That’s why every employee is an asset to your team. Even the ideas that might seem the most stupid might bring a change later on.

2. Make it fun

Ensure that you do not convert the employee team building event in a formal corporate snore fest. Have some engaging activities, let the employees talk, let them lighten up. It should draw the attention of every member of the staff. Cut down on the speeches and have more interactive programs to make it fun.

3. Have common goals

As mentioned before, you need to keep into account the differing and varying ideas from each employee into account. However, these ideas should be shaped and honed in such a way that they can help you and your team to achieve a common goal. The very fact that you have a team means that you share one objective and aim. The whole organization is truly a team and working together towards a set of common goals. Team building is a process of enabling the team to achieve that goal.

4. Establish your relationship with other employees

Having a team is an essential condition, but that is not enough. You need to understand your employees, their ideas, their aspirations, what motivates them along with other things. Good leaders try to include their employees in their decision making processes as much as possible. This also boosts the morale of the employees and helps them to cooperate and develop problem-solving skills. You need to treat them as friends rather than subordinates.

5. Become the leader that your team wants you to be

Every member of a team is equal, but it does require a chap with good leadership skills to help them walk on the right path. The leader should have some level of judgment that every employee would trust and follow. After all, mutual agreement is required. This means that they will work effectively even when you are not around. You do not need to be on their noses all the time to ensure productivity and effectiveness.

So those were a few guidelines that you can employ in further employee team building events to build up productivity in your team.
