It is not only playing a significant role in the list of Seven Wonders of the World but also became an integral part of the Indian tourism system. This symbol of love has some of the interesting facts which add more flavors to the existing beauty. This monument is situated at Agra in Uttar Pradesh, India near the river bank of Yamuna River. It was the monument built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan on his fond memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal who had passed away while giving her 14th birth to a female child called Gauhara Begum.  Anjuman Banu Begum was the name of Shah Jahan’s beloved wife whom the name ‘Mumtaz Mahal’ was given out of her beauty. ‘Mumtaz Mahal’ literally means the ‘beloved ornament of the palace’ was believed to be awesomely beautiful due to which the Emperor deeply fell in love with her.

She was the beauty queen not only in front of him but also in the eyes of various people including Shah Jahan’s other wives. When his beloved passed away the emperor shah Jahan became so gloomed that he almost remained a year out side the eyes of his publics.

It is told that when she was on her deathbed she requested Shah Jahan for their true symbol of love and promised him to build a beautiful monument after her death which he did later. This is the historical background about the genesis of Taj Mahal, symbolizing their true immortal love. It took around more than 20 years to complete the monument under the famous architect of Ustad Ahmad Lahauri who had beautifully designed the monument with white marbles. Taj Mahal Tour Packages
