The timeline of lighting technology began to develop ten thousand years ago when human being was on their way to modern civilization. And till date the lighting fixtures or lamps are refining in various forms. Lamp is usually referred as “Lighting Fixtures” or “Light Fitting” or “Luminaire”.

Lamp is the portable format of lighting fixtures. The main features of a lamp consists of fitting body with a light socket inside with carry the illuminating device or bulb. When these wires burnt off totally these bulbs can be replaced.

There are various types of lamp according to structures available in the market like table lamps, street light, tube light, ceiling dome, search light, traffic light, etc. All these lights illuminates on the basis of electrical power consumption.

Therefore luminaires can also be categorized according to light sources such as wax lamp or candle, arc lamp, fluorescent lamp, fuel lamp, gas-discharge lamp, incandescent lamp, halogen, LED lamp, etc.

The portable format of lighting fixtures, which are used for studying purposes or as night lamp for decorating room, are generally defined as table lamps. But table lamp generally comes under the family of spot light. The table lamp have two parts- one long stand that holds the bulb and the plastic, glass, or cloth shade above it. These shades are off various designs and are basically responsible for coloring the light it produced. The table lamps are used to decorate offices and homes. It illuminates the surrounding area consuming electrical power.

The tea light or tea lite or T-light or night light is a candle encased within plastic or thin metal or earthen vessels so that the candle can burn completely till the lit. The name tea light came from the word teapot warmer. A tea light can be classified according to shapes, sizes, color, odor, and burning time. Now come the pot which holds the tea light that is tea light holder or candle holder. Tea light holders are usually made of glass, metal, ceramic, soil, etc. and are of various styles. These holders are the product of handicraft industry and mainly used in decorative purposes.
