As for the lunch or dinner, I would pick some wonderful dishes to make
the food look more attractive. However, to my surprise, there is a
series of ceramic tableware, designed by Ronit Baranga, an Israeli
ceramicist, which I have found occasionally on the Internet. As far as I
am concerned, this one is more like a series of arts which is
considered as novelty
home decor,
since I have been shocked in the first sight. I have to stress that
it’s pretty weird to me. The series is called “body of work”, and some
people have described it as unsettling work.
You could see from the pictures above that the tableware seems to have
spouted parts of our body such as fingers and mouths. Some of you might
scream out “What the hell is that?”
The opening mouths appear to be greedy and dying to eat up all the food
on the dishes, which seems a little bit weird and funny to me. Moreover,
the red lips look like a young woman’s lips which are kind of sexy,
although it’s really visually creepy.
Look, the teapot and the teacups are going to run away. Those fingers
are so realistic that I almost consider it is the scene of Beauty and
the Beast. With those fingers, the teapot ant the teacups might run away
from you without your notice.
With the
stainless steel fork
in the fingers, the dish looks like self-feeding itself. As far as I am
concerned, it’s pretty thought-provoking, since it would causes us to
think about what we take for granted.
However, I believe most of you might not be willing to use this series
of tableware in usual dinner. In my opinion, it’s more suitable to use
them as home decor or collections.
