Summertime AC Repair Checkup
by Kevin Smith AuthorNow that summer temperatures are beginning to soar into the
90s and even 100s, you’ve resorted to turning down the thermostat in order for
the AC to turn on and cool down the house. But you notice that cool air coming
out of the registers isn’t as cold as you remember so you call in in an AC
repair company in Conroe, TX.
The Smart Things To Do
That was the smart thing to do. Unless you’ve been trained
in heating and cooling equipment, you won’t have a clue as to why your AC is
not putting out cold air. Nor will you have the gauges and tools for testing.
AC equipment is a complicated system of sensors and refrigerant lines, all tied
into to your heating and cooling system.
Besides checking the overall performance of your air
conditioning equipment, the AC repair company will check the refrigerant level
that runs between the air conditioning condenser outside and the air
conditioning coil inside the house. The air conditioning condenser is the metal
box with fan blades that sits somewhere outside your house with two refrigerant
lines running inside into a wall of your house. The two refrigerant lines wind
their way out of sight through walls and ceilings and connect to the air
conditioning coil that sits on top of your furnace. You can’t see the coil
because it is encased in the ductwork.
Repair or Replace
If your refrigerant levels are good, the AC repair company
will determine if components inside your air conditioning system are running at
peak efficiency or not working at all. If even the smallest component is not
working it will need to be replaced. An air conditioner is a complex system of
lots of integrated parts. If a part is not running at peak efficiency, a
component may need to be replaced or adjusted.
If one or more parts are not working nor running at peak
efficiency, the AC repair company may recommend that you purchase a new system.
They will say it is better to not add new components to an aging air
conditioning system. The new components may not be fully compatible with older
system components and lower the overall efficiency. They will argue it is
better to replace the entire system with a state-of-the-art, and more
energy-efficient system that will save you money every month on your power bill
– and you’ll be set for the next 10 to 15 years. So, you may want to get a
second opinion on the state of your current AC system from an AC
repair company in Conroe, TX.
