Eligibility

A candidate must have completed your 12th with physics, chemistry, and biology as the main subjects with a minimum of 50% marks. 

 

Entrance exam

  • The national level exam NEET is the only exam conducted for admission to BDS courses.
  • NEET is conducted for admissions to all undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, etc.

  • Usually, there are three rounds of counseling sessions held before admission.

 

 

Bachelor of Dental Surgery

Based on the rank in the entrance examination candidates will be offered a seat in the undergraduate level dentistry program, BDS. After successful completion of this four years long course, you will be a qualified dental surgeon.

 

Internship

After the completion of the BDS, the candidates have also to complete at least a year of internship. For an internship, you can work with a senior dentist to acquire practical skills.

 

After completing the degree course successfully, it is necessary for the students to register themselves in the Dental Council of India which regulates the BDS course. Only after the registration, you become eligible to practice as a professional dentist.
