The moment plastering has been applied to the walls it may take over a week to dry naturally. You cannot make use of heat treatment techniques to dry the walls. You have to apply the plastering material and then allow the walls to dry naturally.

Even if you are using quality plastering material, it is important to use a POP coating. For a better finish, you may have to use at least two or three layers of POP. This technique will help make the walls even. POP will remove all types of imperfections from the walls.

POP will also help in covering major or minor holes and cracks on the walls. Once the POP is apple dot the walls, you may have to leave the walls to dry naturally. It is advisable to leave the walls to dry naturally for at least seven to eight days.

Quality primer

If you are not using plastering boards then you have to primer the walls. Primer will ensure that you get a better finish even when using ordinary paint. Primer will prepare the walls for a perfectly smooth finish, once the paint is applied.

The walls also have to be scrapped, before and after the primer is applied. Primer will only remove small imperfections from the surface. The primer should only be applied to the walls if they are clean from dust and debris.

Once all the above-mentioned tasks have been done the walls are now ready for the first coating of the emulsion paint. For better finish and results, you can apply a minimum of two coats of paint.
