I have stayed in all sorts of hotels. And they are there for years for a reason and because there's a strong demand for good stay options among travelers and business executives alike. But over time, one is bound to get bored of the same sort of settings and service. If you too share the sentiment, I'll tell you some alternative options.

You'll get a bed to sleep on and breakfast when you wake up in the morning. That's it - it's cheap and popular. But it might not be a good option for you if you want a complete solution for your week or month long stay.
To begin with, the service provider might not help you arrange for lunch and dinner. Second, you might not have enough space. And it's certainly not something to try on if you're with your family.

Service apartments - big and beautiful and economical

I have been to a few service apartments in Pune. They are also known as apartment hotels in Pune. And they were a completely new experience altogether. And I found them better than hotels in many ways.

• One, they were more spacious than the hotel rooms I had stayed in the past, though I paid less for the service apartments.
• Second, I was cooking food myself! And you too can, if you choose to spend your vacation in any of the service apartments in Pune. The thing is most of these apartments are built with a small kitchen space where you get all the things to cook your food. All you have to do is buy the vegetables or other stuffs to make your food. Believe me cooking your food yourself adds a world of fun to the holiday. However, if you don't enjoy cooking, you can order your food as well.

Stay with the locals

A section of tourists likes to stay with the locals wherever they go to. You too can try out this route. Go online and see whether you can find someone who stays in Pune and would like to have you as his or her guest.
