Sputnik V to Available From the 2nd Week of June through Apollo Hospitals

(COVID-19) vaccine, Sputnik V, will be administered in India from the second
week of June and will be available through the Apollo Hospitals. Information
regarding the same was shared via a statement made by the Executive
Vice-chairperson of the Apollo Group of Hospitals, Shobana Kamineni.

Report state that the group has
administered over one million vaccines to the country and this was achieved at
over 80 location where priority was given to frontline workers, corporate
employees and also the ones at the risk of getting infected. Sharing more
information, Shobhana said that the group has planned on administering one
million vaccines every week in June, and will work on doubling the same in
July. The team at Apollo will strive to administer 20 million vaccines by
September 2021.
In an interview with ANI, Shobana
said, "Sputnik V, the third vaccine approved in India will be available
through the Apollo Hospitals from the 2nd week of June."

Currently, Sputnik V has received
approval from the Subject expert committee (SEC) and it is the third vaccine to
be available in India. However, this will be given currently only in an
emergency as per the Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA). Moreover, India is the
60th country to have authorised this vaccine for coronavirus.
