Spend the Summer in London: Things You Should Know

When summer is knocking at your door, what is that particular thing you look forward to? Of course, you look forward to vacations. One of the largest cities in this world, London is a tourist’s paradise. London is a city where there are a large number of heritage sites. Apart from the heritage sites, there are restaurants which serve delectable food, markets where you can hang around and add more to your unique collection of clothes and accessories and hotels which provide you very comfortable and affordable accommodation. London is well connected by road, rail and water. The beautiful river Thames flows through the city offering a majestic waterway which is one of the major tourist attractions of the city. Bridges and canals will leave you with experiences one will cherish forever. The tube rails and the bus tours attract the tourists too. However, summer holidays are not that long and one can get just a few days to visit London. So, in order to make the travel very effective and fulfilling, the trip should be planned well.

To begin with, one can start with the Trafalgar Square. The Trafalgar Square is the located at the centre of London in the city of Westminster. This site is a heritage site and is one of the ancient structures of London. The Trafalgar Square has been there in London since the thirteenth century and plays an important role in the lives of the people. It is the site where mass demonstrations, protests regarding various critical issues are carried out by the people. So when a person is visiting London, this is a place which should be visited. Since Trafalgar Square is located in the middle of the city, it is possible for travellers to visit other heritage sites without wasting much time behind travelling. From the Trafalgar Square, one can visit places like the London Eye, Big Ben and the majestic Buckingham Palace. The ride on Europe’s largest Ferris wheel will leave everyone spell-bound. The view from the top of the wheel offers an amazing glimpse of London especially when the city is decorated by lights during evening. This is known as the London Eye. The famous clock tower with four faces has been a site we have known since our childhood days. It has been used in a lot of movies, comics and books and is one of the famous tourist attractions of the world. This clock tower, Big Ben can be reached easily from Trafalgar Square. When one is visiting London, one cannot miss out the famous Buckingham Palace. It is the palace which has been the residency of the British Royal family. Apart from the marvellous architecture, the ceremony of changing of guards is something one should see during one’s visit to London. While visiting these heritage sites, one can take a break and enjoy the beauty of nature at the St. James’s Park. This park is small but is a park which belongs to the royal parks of London. The greenery will soothe one’s eyes and is a perfect place to enjoy a summer afternoon. Another place to visit is the National Gallery. A large number of tourists come to London to enjoy the exhibitions of this National Gallery which is enriched with more than two thousand pieces.

When a tourist is visiting London, the primary thing that comes to one’s mind is the place to stay. London has a large number of hotels where one can stay. The soft summer breeze and the sight of cheerful living creatures are something which cannot be missed during a trip to London. Apart from sights like this, another advantage of staying at the hotel is that it is just one and three miles away from the shops and restaurants of Notting Hill.

After visiting all these sites on the first day, one can leave the hustle and bustle of the city on the second day for a change and take a trip to the Windsor Castle. The castle has been built during the medieval ages and stands now still stands with all its grandeur. The other place which is worth visiting during summer is the Greenwich Park. This Greenwich Park is the place through which the Prime Meridian Line crosses. It is this Prime Meridian which divides the world into two hemispheres. The park is a beautiful one with lush green meadow and also happens to be a perfect picnic spot. It is a great place to spend time with family and friends.

One can spend the next day by taking a trip to other places like the Tower Bridge. The Tower Bridge is a bridge which is built over the river Thames. It offers an amazing sight of the city and sometimes the bridge is opened to help the ships pass. This scene is exciting to watch. The Tower Bridge has been the symbol of London and has made its mark in folk tales, children’s rhymes, books, movies and popular culture. The refreshing view of the river and the waterway helps the traveller enjoy a perfect summer afternoon. Another significant landmark which one should visit in London is the St. Paul’s Cathedral. It is a majestic white cathedral. This august heritage site is adorned by marvellous architecture and sculptures.

London is a beautiful place with a large number of tourist attractions. If one wants to spend a good summer vacation in London, one can plan the trip well and enjoy the stay at one of the best hotels of London.
