total number of mobile subscribers has increased at an increasing rate in South
Africa. The mobile market is witnessing a shift from traditional voice and SMS
to data is expected to drive future growth, particularly in 4G long-term evolution
(LTE) services, which are slated to expand significantly in the next several

major players of the South African telecom industry are- MTN, Vodacom, Telkom,
CellC. The
growth in telecom sector has been primarily driven by the mobile sector. The
total number of mobile subscribers has been increasing consistently, with
Vodacom having the largest share in the market, of more than 43%.
South Africa has a vibrant mobile

revenue of USD 9.2 billion. However telecom services revenue in South Africa to
decline at a CAGR of -2.4% in USD during 2016-2021.
