Some Precautions When Buying Or Using Pure CBD Oil

by Brittany W. Content Writer
People looking for organic alternatives to painkillers often turn to cannabidiol oil. It’s also a popular supplement for anxiety, skincare, nutrition, etc. because cannabidiol interacts with the endocannabinoid system that plays a role in mood, sleep, and other body functions. While the FDA has yet to approve it for medical use the federal law allows you to buy and use it. However, the product has a few side effects and is illegal in a few states so you need to take some precautions before buying and drinking it. Following are some precautions that you must take when you buy pure CBD oil:

Check State Laws Before You Buy Cannabinoid Oil
While hemp-derived products are legal at the federal level after the 2018 Farm Bill, it’s still illegal in Idaho, Nebraska, and South Dakota. You should avoid having hemp-extract products in these three states but can have them in other states. The law becomes more complicated if the oil is extracted from marijuana. While CBD from both marijuana and hemp is identical at the molecular level, the federal law prohibits marijuana-extracts. Some states allow CBD oil extracted from marijuana for medical use or recreational use and some prohibit it completely. It’s safer to buy CBD oil extracted from hemp.

Know Difference Between CBD And Hemp Oils
While both oils are extracted from the same plant, they are completely different products. CBD oil or hemp-extract oil comes from the plant’s root, stem and leaves. It contains a high concentration of cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol below 0.3 percent. Hemp oil or hemp seed oil comes from the plant’s seeds. It contains trace amounts of CBD and THC. So when you buy pure CBD oil, check the label to see the cannabidiol concentration to know if you are buying the right product.

Check Label When You Buy Pure CBD Oil
Other than checking the cannabidiol and THC concentrations you should read the label to be sure which plant it comes from. You should also check if the oil contains any artificial ingredients. The label may also contain some instructions about the proper dosage.

Check Lab Results
If the bottle’s label doesn’t contain much information about the ingredients then you can request the sellers to show lab results from a third party to know that the product is safe for consumption.

Search Company Reviews
With so many sellers and almost no regulation, it’s hard to find a reliable hemp company. You should check customer reviews to find a reputable company.

Have Oil Consistently
The oil may take a few weeks before it starts showing results. You should have it for two weeks and see if you feel better than before. If you do, you can continue with the dosage. If you don’t, you can either increase the dosage or stop it.

Shake & Eat Before
The ingredients tend to divide a bit when left alone for a long time. Shake the bottle before a dose. You should also eat something to make it easier to digest and reduce side effects.

Buy Pet CBD Oil For Pets
Animals have an endocannabinoid system and may benefit from cannabidiol intake. Dogs and cats are known to benefit from it. But you shouldn’t feed the hemp-extract products meant for human consumption because they may not be suitable for animals. You should buy cannabinoid oil specifically created for pets instead. You may also find some hemp pet treats.

Know Cannabidiol’s Side Effects
While cannabidiol is mostly safe, some users experience side effects like nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, change in appetite and weight loss. If you are under medication then you should consult your doctor because the oil reacts the same way with the body as blood thinners or medicines with grapefruit warning do. Cannabidiol doesn’t intoxicate you, it increases alertness. In moderate amounts, the oil may reverse intoxication caused by THC. But in large amounts, THC may build up and make you drowsy.

These are some precautions you should take when you buy cannabinoid oil to prevent lawsuits and side effects and get maximum benefits out of drinking it.
