Smart Tips to Keep Your Money Safe While Travelling Abroad

Whether you’re visiting Egypt to see the pyramids, London to explore its history, Thailand to snorkel in the ocean or France to get yourself clicked right next to the Eiffel Tower, you cannot possibly travel if you do not have money. Unfortunately, travelling is not free and visiting different parts of the world costs a lot of money. If you do not have funds while travelling, it will get very difficult to survive. Whether your wallet gets misplaced or stolen, being without money can put you in a bad situation. So here are a few things that you can do to keep your money safe:    

Inform Your Bank    

Before visiting somewhere, always make sure to inform your bank that you will be travelling. Hence, your account will not be frozen when you reach your destination. Before leaving, set up a daily withdrawal limit so that large frauds can be prevented if the card gets stolen. Further, you can keep a check on personal spending.   

Note down the Contact Details Of Your Bank

Before leaving home, make sure to write down the contact details of the bank. Hence, if you face any issue, you can reach them easily. It is important to keep a hardcopy safe so that if there is some issue with your phone, you can still get in touch with them.   

Contingency Plan 

A contingency plan is always important. Leave some money with a family member or friend at home so that in the event of an emergency, he or she can help you out. The benefit is if you do not require that money, you will end up with some savings.   
Carry Some Local Currency 

Before leaving the country, it is always important to carry some local currency so that you do not face any issue after landing. Getting a bus, train or taxi immediately after reaching requires local currency. In case hotels are not booked, cash will be required for your first night’s stay as well. So, buy forex in India before going to another country.

Don’t Leave Your Belongings Out Of Sight 

You’ve heard this a lot of times but the chances of someone losing or misplacing his or her luggage is so high. The chances of theft are pretty high in foreign lands as foreigners are often an easy target. And if it gets stolen along with other belongings, life will get very difficult. No matter what, don’t let your things out of your sight!    

Prepare well before visiting a foreign place. People often forget to carry the local currency but you should always visit your nearest foreign exchange and get the currency exchanged beforehand.
