Six selection factors under Canada 67 points calculator

by Nationwide Visas Canadian Immigration Expert

You would have often heard that for immigrating to Canada you have to score the eligibility score in the 67 points calculator. But do you know how the points are calculated and based on what factors? We have discussed here in detail all that you will require to understand the allocation of points for Canada immigration eligibility.

The Federal Skilled Workers Program is one of the 3 federal economic immigration programs under Express Entry. Experience and skills make candidates eligible for FSWP. Later, Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada will evaluate you based on 6 selection factors. These factors assist in determining the overall eligibility of candidates for immigration to Canada as FSW.

The selection factors under Canada 67 points calculator are:

Skills in Language

The 2 official languages of Canada are English and French. If you wish to immigrate to Canada and settle permanently, you must have proficiency in either of these or both languages. You must be able to write, read, speak and listen to the language/s with a certain level of competency.

IRCC has listed certified tests for assessing the language skills of the applicants. They can accordingly secure up to 28 points for the language factor based on their test scores.

Education

Every Diploma, Certification, Degree, or higher educational credential that you have will offer you points. You have to offer authentic documents for any overseas credential that you have gained in the form of an Educational Credential Assessment – ECA report. This is not required for any qualification obtained in Canada. You will obtain maximum points for this factor if you have a Doctoral or Master’s Degree.

Work experience

Applicants of FSWP are required to possess a minimum level of skilled work experience. It becomes easy to obtain Canada PR Visa if you have worked for a minimum of 30 hours weekly for 1 year. The job must be full-time and appropriate for your skills.

IRCC considers your work experience acquired overseas and in Canada as well. You can obtain extra points if you have worked during your studies in Canada. Applicants having 6 or plus years of experience can obtain a maximum of 15 points.

Age

When it comes to obtaining the eligibility points for immigration to Canada, the age factor is very crucial. All applicants more than 18 years of age seeking to qualify for the FSWP are offered points based on their age.

Maximum points are received by applicants in the age group of 35 to 18 years. The points decrease with the increase in the age of the candidates after 35 years. You can obtain up to 12 points for the age factor.

Arranged employment in Canada

You must always make efforts to obtain a job offer from an employer in Canada if you plan to apply for PR Visa. An employment offer from a company in Canada will provide you with up to 10 points in the Canada 67 points calculator.

The job offer must have a minimum duration of 12 months and of full-time nature. It must also correspond to your work experience or education.

Adaptability

Besides the five factors specified here, you can also obtain points for immigration for the profile strength of your common-law partner or spouse. You can obtain 5 points if your common-law partner or spouse has better proficiency in the language. If your partner has obtained work experience or education in Canada, this can offer you 5 extra points.

You can add 5 points to your score if you have a blood relative staying in Canada. The relatives here include your partner’s or your grandchild, child, siblings, grandparents, or parents who have Canadian citizenship. You can obtain up to 10 points for this factor.

2 Scenarios for applicants

The 67 points calculator is the first stage for aspiring immigration candidates to Canada. They can enter the pool of Express Entry candidates only after scoring the eligibility score. Those who are unable to do so will be ineligible for Express Entry. The same principle is applicable to the Manitoba PNP points calculator.

Case 1:

If you are successful in securing the minimum 67 points, you can create your profile in the Express Entry System. Your profile will be included in the pool of qualified candidates. The profiles of the eligible candidates are then ranked over one another according to the CRS - Comprehensive Ranking System.

Case 2:

If you are not able to secure the minimum 67 points, you will not be able to create a profile in the Express Entry System. However, you can increase your score by working on improving your profile through various methods.

For example, you can appear again for language proficiency tests like IELTS to improve your score by securing higher bands.

Nationwide Visas offers you a thorough evaluation of your profile through its Immigration Experts for developing a successful immigration strategy.
