Six Attentions in CNC Lathe Machining Process

The process of CNC lathe machining is similar to that of ordinary lathes, but since the CNC is a one-time clamping, and all the turning operations are completed automatically, one should pay attention to the following aspects.

1. Reasonable selection of cutting amount

For high-efficiency metal laser cutting, the processed materials, cutting tools, and cutting conditions are the three major factors. These determine the processing time, tool life and processing quality. A cost-effective machining method must be a reasonable selection of cutting conditions.

Three factors of cutting conditions: cutting speed, feed and cutting depth directly cause tool damage. As cutting speeds increase, the tip temperature rises and mechanical, chemical, and thermal wear occurs. Increasing cutting speed reduces tool life by 1/2.

The feed condition and the wear behind the tool are generated within a very small range. However, the feed rate is large, the cutting temperature rises, and the rear wear is large. It has less influence on the tool than the cutting speed. The effect of cutting depth on the tool is not as large as the cutting speed and feed rate, but when cutting at a small depth, the hardened layer of the material being cut will also affect the tool life.

The user should select the cutting speed to be used according to the processed data, hardness, cutting status, data type, feed amount, cutting depth, etc. The following table:

The selection of the most suitable processing conditions is based on these factors. Regular and stable wear to achieve the longevity is the ambition.

However, in practice, the selection of tool life is related to tool wear, changed processing dimensions, appearance quality, cutting noise, and processing heat. When confirming the cnc machining conditions, it is necessary to conduct research according to the actual situation. For hard-to-machine materials such as stainless steel and heat-resistant alloys, you can choose a coolant or a rigid blade.

2. Reasonable selection of tools

1) When roughing, choose a high-strength and durable tool to meet the requirements of large back eating and large feed when roughing.

2) When finishing turning, it is necessary to choose a tool with high precision and good durability to ensure the processing accuracy.

3) In order to reduce the time of tool change and facilitate tool setting, the machine clamp knife and machine clamp blade should be selected as much as possible.

3. Reasonable selection of fixtures

1) Use universal fixtures to clamp workpieces as much as possible to prevent the use of special fixtures;

2) Part positioning reference coincides to reduce positioning errors.

4. Confirm the processing road

The machining path is the movement trajectory and direction of the tool relative to the part during the processing of the index-controlled machine tool.

1) It should be able to ensure processing accuracy and rough appearance requirements;

2) The processing road should be shortened as much as possible, and the idle stroke time of the tool should be reduced.

5. Contact between processing road and processing allowance

At present, under the condition that the CNC lathe has not reached the general application, the excess margin on the blank should be generally processed, especially the surplus tissue containing the forged and cast hard skin layer on the general lathe. If it is necessary to process with CNC lathes, pay attention to the flexible organization of the program.

6. Fixture installation key

At present, the connection between the hydraulic chuck and the hydraulic clamping cylinder is completed by a tie rod. The key to clamp the hydraulic chuck is as follows: first remove the nut on the hydraulic cylinder with a handle, remove the pull tube, and pull it out from the rear end of the spindle, and then remove the chuck fixing screw with the handle to remove the chuck.

The smoothing edge on the tool refers to a small section of the blade that is parallel to the cutting edge and is sharpened in the secondary deflection direction behind the cutting edge of the tool. It is mainly used for secondary cutting after cutting. The appearance roughness of the improved workpiece is mostly used on tools for finishing.
