Avalokiteshvara Thangka Painting |
An Avalokiteshvara Thangka Painting such as the one you see on this page would be a valuable addition to the home of any Buddha devotee. It is a skillfully, perfectly symmetrically executed Lokeshvara thangka painting in His traditional iconography. He is the glorious Lokeshvara sahastrabhuja (thousand-armed), the unmistakable aspect of His iconography.
Speaking of signature aspects, this is an image of
the eleven-headed Lokeshvara with Buddha. All the five contemplative Buddhas,
together with Green Tara, are seated on either side of the throne of the
Lokeshvara Buddha. Along the lower edge of the painting is a panel depicting a
Buddhist teacher with His students congregated before Him, and a series of Buddhist
deities ranging from the serene to the wrathful. Along the upper edge is a
series of miniature seated Buddha figures, below which are more seated figures
of Buddhist teachers and students.
The red- and green-colored faces of Lokeshvara contrast sharply with the fair complexion of His numerous arms.
