Simple Ways to Bring Positive Change in the World
Wars, hate, discrimination, racism, religious intolerance, are just some of the devils our world is up against. The human race is in a state of chaos that ultimately makes one ponder on where it all began, and where it might end. Most people do not realize that the power to alter the course of where the world is going lies with them. Each individual has the power to influence what they leave behind.
If you wish to bring positive change in the world around you, here’s what you can do:
“Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” – Thomas Jefferson
You need to start with yourself. Your actions, words, and thoughts define you. You do not like the idea of racism, be careful about not repeating it yourself. Speak out if you see someone practicing it. Be patient. Learn from your mistakes, and be a physical manifestation of your cause.
“We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.” Mother Teresa
Smile. Spread the positive energy. It makes you seem friendly and approachable, and it instantly lightens the environment.
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Child labor in the east is upsetting; guns have become too common in the society; nobody respects the servicemen; does anyone care about all that? – stop complaining. If you see a problem, look for ways to make it right, initiate a movement, make people listen to and support your cause.
Don’t buy products from industries that employ child labor. Stop buying toy guns for children; educate kids about the wrong it spreads. Honor your servicemen, support them – a simple thank-you note would do the trick. There’s a lot you can do, it would need a little convincing though.
“Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.” ― Ruth Reichl
Remember, life is beautiful; and even if you do not realize, you have been blessed with countless blessings. Be humble. Friends, family, a job, a vision – learn to be happy with what you have. Also don’t forget to share. Take part in community service. Spend time at an old age hospital; read stories to the sick children; donate things, (clothes, books, money) that you do not use. Share your blessings, and your time. You could make someone’s day!
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop
Kindness goes a long way in bringing people together. Be kind. Be compassionate. Listen to what others have to say. Be more accepting. Don’t let busy schedules consume the good in you. Take time out for a little kindness every day. Talk to a lonely person. Feed a hungry man. Adopt an abused pet. Be considerate, and give.
“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” – Robin Williams
You have a cause? Stand up for it. Do what you have to, do it now! Be proud of who you are, and work for the world you wish to live in.
“Because the people, who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”― Rob Siltanen
