The major objective of using these silica gel breathers is that they are used to absorb moisture from the air which is sucked in by the transformer in the breathing process. When it comes to design silica gel breather transformer has a simple design. In fact, it is a pot consisting of silica gel through which air passes when the transformer breathe. As the silica gel has the ability of absorbing moisture very quickly, it is used in power generation industry. Freshly regenerated gel is extremely efficient and it may dry down the air to a point below – 40 degree Celsius. When it comes to a perfectly maintained silica gel breather, it will operate with a dew point around – 35 degrees Celsius, especially when a huge quantity of gel is used.
