Side Effects of Acupuncture

by Mohit J. White Hat Link Building Services

Acupuncture in Brick is the practice of penetrating your skin with solid, thin, metallic needles.  Once they are in your skin, they are activated through gentle, specific movement of electric stimulation or the acupuncturist’s hands.  It is a part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese medicine.  As with many alternative types of medical treatment, acupuncture does have side effects but none are life-threatening.  Most are fleeting and cause no long-term effects.

What is unusual about the side effects is that they are things that everyone wants, which are more energy, better sleep, better digestion, mental clarity, and less stress.  These side effects, one or more, will routinely occur for many who use acupuncture in Point Pleasant.  Unfortunately, there are some other less-pleasant side effects but are much rarer than the common side effects.

  • Fatigue—some people after acupuncture can feel very fatigued but the more common result is an increase in their energy level. When you feel fatigued, it is your body’s way of telling you that it is depleted so feeling a bit fatigued is not a cause for concern.  It is just your body’s way of telling you to rest, which you should do for the rest of the day.  The next day, the combination of rest and acupuncture in Brick will have you feeling more energized.
  • Soreness—the area where the needles were inserted can feel a little sore after they are removed. For some, this will commonly occur in the feet and hands.  This is especially true at the point between your index finger and the thumb.  You may also experience some soreness away from where the needle was inserted if a trigger point was released during your treatment.
  • Bruising—this is less common than soreness but it can occur at the site where the needle was inserted into your skin. Sometimes it is because of a   This is a collection of blood that is localized and gets initiated when the needle is inserted into the skin.  A bruise will last longer than the soreness but is usually nothing to worry about.
  • Feeling lightheaded—this is very rare but does happen. Make sure that when the session is over you take your time getting up from the table.  If you feel lightheaded, sit down in the waiting room, take a few deep breaths, and it will go away.
  • Twitching of your muscles—some people when they get acupuncture in Point Pleasant will experience involuntary twitching of their muscles during or after the session. There is no explanation for why this occurs.
  • Worse symptoms—most people will notice an improvement in their symptoms after an acupuncture session but some will feel worse before they start to feel better. Your self-healing capabilities are awakened with acupuncture.  This side effect is good because it is tell you that things are moving in the right direction and you will soon start to feel better.

Conclusion

As you can see, acupuncture does have some side effects but there are more positive side effects than negative ones.
