Many people became familiar with bean bag chairs in grade school or at a young age. They were fun and exciting, allowing a freedom not found with other kinds of chairs. Fortunately, bean bags have grown in popularity over the years and people of all ages from high school and college students to older adults enjoy lounging in the bean bag. This growth in popularity means that bean bags are available in a variety of sizes and styles to accommodate preferences for all kinds of bean bag chair users.

Fabric

One of the first things to look for when choosing the perfect chair is the fabric. Many older chairs had a plastic shell, but now bean bags come in a variety of fabric covers including micro suede, textured, ultra soft, corduroy and special edition covers depending upon the manufacturer. In addition to fabric covers, the liners are also important because they keep the chair in tact. The covers and liners need to come together in a way that makes the chair comfortable yet durable.

Colors

Most people will first look at the color of a chair when trying to decide what best fits them. Some may choose colors that already fit the decor, but others may decide to take a completely different turn. In any case, there are a variety of colors available for bean bags including chocolate, royal blue, powder blue, olive, black, cinnabar, purple, magenta, lemon, hunter green, lime and aquamarine. With these choices, the chair can effortlessly blend in to a room or stand out as the fun piece of furniture.

Size

Of course, size needs to be considered when it comes to choosing a bean bag chair. There are many bags that come in children's sizes with dimensions less than two and a half feet in width, height and length. However, there are also chairs that accommodate adults and can even fit more than one person. For instance, there are sacks in five, six and eight feet that can comfortably seat two adults. There are also other options including the pillow sack that allows for reclining on the entire sack.

These are a few of the things to consider when choosing bean bag chairs. While they are fun pieces of furniture, they are also a way to get comfortable while relaxing or a way to get the whole family together if the sack is large enough. However, the bag not only needs to be the right size, but it also needs to have the preferred fabric and color. With other components like pillow sacks and ottomans, the bean bag can add a whimsical touch to the home decor.
