Select the Best Bridles for Your Horse

Are you curious about bridles? Bridle is most mandatory part of horse wear through this we can communicate with horse. It is one of critical piece of tack that is used to control horse’s face, neck and mouth. It is very considerably depending on discipline. So whenever you ride on the horse use simplest bridle and bits.

Bridle comes in various parts like nose band, throat lash check pieces. If you do mismatching, it often can affect the horse co-operation. Since bridles are commonly very harsh so neats foot oil is best way for making it supple for long term durability.

There is different type of bridles available that depends on horse mouth which one is fitted on them as well as type of riding and how your horse has trained. 

1.Snaffle bridle :
This type of bridle has lots of adaptability. It can be used for lots of purpose such as riding, exercising, and racing.  This type of bridle has head piece, cheek piece, nose band and bit. It can be fitted with flash strap which is attached to the noseband and by doing this to keep horse to aid control.

2.Western Bridle:
It is used for long trail ride and so it is light weighted and have a capability for hot condition. These are mostly used in cutting competition.  It has a head piece as well as brow band, split eared and one eared brow band too.  Western curb Bit is mostly used with that bridle has split rein

3.Double Bridle :
It gives great level of control over the horse due to its two bits in the horse’s mouth instead of one. In this double bridle there are two bits, one is attached with cheek piece and other is attached with bridoon- sliphead and two sets of reins are also used for more control.

Bits and Bridles

Mostly cavesson noseband is used for bridles. Plain cavesson is a noseband that all around the horse’s nose and one to two inches below their checkbone. It holds the bit more securely, while cavesson keeps the horse’s mouth closed for riding.  We talk about bit so it comes in two styles which are direct pressure snaffles and leveraged curbs. 

These bits control the horse’s head. Snaffle bits give direct pressure against horse’s tongue. Few bits like kimblewick use direct and leveraged pressure. Most bits use single set of rein that are attached together while others require use extra set of rein.
