Seat Allotment Procedure for JEE Main 2015

Seat allotment responsibility in Joint Entrance examination has been overtook by JoSAA. JoSAA stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority. Candidates those who have qualified the JEE Main exam will be able to attend the JEE Main Seat Allotment 2015 round. Through this round they will be able to take admission in various institutes like NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and various other institutes as well. Seat will be allocated on the basis of their overall ranking. Candidates will have to provide their options for the courses and colleges from which they will be allotted seat. Other details related to seat allocation in JEE Main is provided below.

In JEE Main 2015 Seat Allotment,seat allocation is done after considering various factors related to exam. Factors like:

  • The category [GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, etc.] of the candidate;
  • The position of the candidate in rank list(s);
  • The prioritization of academic programs by the candidate;
  • The availability of seats in different seat categories / seat quotas for which the candidate is eligible for; etc are considered.

It might be the case that a particular candidate may belong to more than one category for JEE Main Seat Allotment 2015. In such cases if the seat allocated to them in number 1 category in subsequent rounds than they will automatically be upgraded.

JEE Main Seat Allotment has started on 1 July 2015. Candidates can start filling their choices for the colleges and courses from 1 July 2015 to 5 July 2015. Mock seats will be displayed on 4 July 2015. Seat allocation of first round will be done on 7 July 2015. Acceptance of seat by the candidates can be done from 8 July 2015 to 12 July 2015. Seat allocation and acceptance of second round will be done on 3 July 2015 and 14-17 July 2015 respectively. Third round seat allocation will be done on 18 July 2015. Seat acceptance for third round will be from 19 July 2015 to 21 July 2015. The academic sessions at IIT will be starting from 22 July 2015. Physical reporting of candidates to NITs must be done from 23 July 2015 to 26 July 2015.

Till 2015, JEE Main Seat Allotment 2015 was under CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board). Candidates were admitted in NITs, IITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other various institutes that accepts JEE score as basis for providing admission to the candidates.

From 2015, this duty has been overtaken by JoSAA. It has been formed from the representatives from CSAB 2015 and JAB 2015. It will conduct JEE Main Seat Allotment 2015 jointly for the candidates those who have qualified the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam. Candidates will have to register themselves first and then go through all the selection rounds to get a seat through counselling round.
