Save on Flights to Tenerife and Get to Charming Places

by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

When you are on the largest island of the Canaries, you'll have plenty of interesting things to see and do during your holiday. This is the reason why many tourists from various parts of the world flock to this Spanish island every year. Another reason why this island has become a popular destination over the years is the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which is hosted on this island before Easter every year. Among the most prominent attractions of Tenerife are its sandy beaches and elegant all-inclusive resorts. However, if you move beyond these offerings, there are a lot more things to discover in this enchanting tourist destination.

You can utilise the savings made while booking your flights to Tenerife several months in advance during your visits to the island's popular attractions. Among them is Teide National Park, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is Europe's most visited national park and is home to Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak and the world's third-highest volcano. Upon exploring this park, you'll come across amazing biodiversity, which includes the forests of La Esperanza, lava plains, and the volcanic rock formations of Roques de Garcia. You can also indulge in some thrilling activities during your visit to this national park, such as jeep safaris, walking tours, star-gazing trips after sunset, and winery tours.

Located 10 kilometres from Buenavista del Norte is the Punta de Teno peninsula, a rugged rocky headland you can visit to escape the hustle-bustle of crowds and unwind amidst serene natural surroundings. However, you must first check the weather forecast before you plan your visit to this place as the road to Punta de Teno is closed during bad weather. While on your visit to this peninsula, you can visit the active lighthouse that sits on the rocks or have a wonderful time relaxing on the bay. From this place, you can savour the awe-inspiring views of Teno Mountains, La Gomera, and La Palma.

The magnificent cliffs of Los Gigantes are among the attractions of Tenerife you must not miss during your time spent on the island. They were called 'Wall of Hell' by the Guanches, who were the earliest settlers in Tenerife. You'll find the town of Los Gigantes equally interesting as you can try some exciting activities like diving, snorkelling, paddle-boarding, and kayaking with the help of a day trip. While taking a tour around the cliffs, you can also enjoy dolphin and whale-watching. Don't miss the enchanting scenery while on your visit to the mountain village of Masca.

If you wish to go on a trail that not many tourists explore, travel to the Anaga Mountains located on the north-eastern parts of the island. They were formed as a result of volcanic eruptions millions of years back. Upon taking a trip to this mountainous region, you'll feel as if you've been transported back in time to an entirely different world. You can visit the El Bailadero village, which has been named after the coven of witches believed to have danced around the fires in this part of Tenerife. A hike to the two rocky outcrops in the sea called Roques de Anaga would also give you some unforgettable moments.
