Taking a holiday should be relaxing and enjoyable, but many homeowners are feeling the pressure of having to spend money in order to enjoy themselves. Renting a vacation home, travelling to the spot, and also having to pay to eat out every day can drain the budget, and this is why some people are looking for another option when it comes to taking their holiday. One of the most popular holiday alternatives is the RV. These Australian motor homes offer users a greater range of options than an ordinary holiday home, and can lead to homeowners taking more holidays away from home than previously.

RV users are getting younger

Since about 2003 there has been a significant increase in the number of people using RVs as their main holiday vehicles. This sudden rise in the demand for RVs has lead to greater manufacturer interest, more production and lower overall prices for RVs, which have in turn lead to a greater number of Australian's purchasing these vehicles. One example is the rise of the home-grown Avida motorhomes range, which has generally proven to be more attractive to residents of Australia. A consequence of all of this consumer interest, plus the amazing increase in the cost of lights and hotels, has seen the age of drivers drop from 60+ to just 49. This means that the typical users of motorhomes in Australia are now not the retired, but those with families.

Hotels and holiday homes are expensive

One of the biggest reasons why the purchase of RVs has increased so dramatically in the past 12 years is the sudden rise in the cost of flights, petrol prices, and hotel rates. For most Australians, travelling abroad is now far too expensive, and most prefer to stay at home when they take time away from work. Although the RVs are still affected by motorhomes, the fact is that hotels and flights are now simply unaffordable for the average residents, which is why they are choosing to spend money on affordable motorhomes rather than saving up for holidays. With an RV, there is greater adaptability in moving on after a day or so in each location, and this means that people are able to plan adventure holidays, sightseeing tours and even simple 'get away from it all' trips into fields and woodlands, all without having to pay the cost of hotels or flights.
