In the year of 1961 the New York
Cotton Exchange left the practice as a

on track. It was Rattan Khatri who gave the concept of declaring opening and

piece of paper and it was put into the matka. After that any random chit was
drawn from the matka and the owner of that number was announced as winner. After
that three numbers were drawn from the makta . In 1962 the Rattan Khatri
introduced a new mtka with some changes in the game. Kalyan Bhagat’s matka ran
for the whole week but the Rattan Khatri matka ran for just five days in a week
i.e. From Monday to Friday.

opened their shops in and around the textile mill area located in the central
Mumbai. As a result, the central Mumbai became the center of that game. The
peak period of matka business was 1980-1990. According to a research a huge
amount of Rs 500 crore was laid at every month. After that the Mumbai police
take the action and forced all the bookies to shut their business in that area.
In such circumstances all the bookies more to the other parts of India and in
this way the satta matka spread in whole of the India.
