Samsung unveils its most flexible display to date

by Alicia Brown Application Developer

Samsung's foldable smartphones have caught the globe by storm. The future of phones has been declared to be foldables. While the gadgets are a little pricey, they are the best premium foldable phones available. The Galaxy Z Flip and Fold are almost enticing because of their superior features and unique design.

During the Global Tech Korea conference yesterday, the South Korean tech giant debuted a 13-inch flexible OLED panel. Demonstrations captured in YouTube clips show a potential use case for augmenting moving fluid footage.

Most Flexible Display Debuted

This isn't Samsung's first stretchable display previously it unveiled a 9.1" panel with a surface deviation tolerance of 5% in 2017 but it is the stretchiest yet, though we weren't given a new figure.

Meanwhile, LG claims to be continuing to develop curved and rollable OLED technology, but with its smartphone division shuttered and its rollable phone design shelved, we're left wondering where the company's brand will go.

When it comes to first-generation devices, it appears that bigger is preferable due to the physics we're dealing with right now, but don't rule out pocketable form factors just yet: For at least two years, Samsung has been working on a phone with a stretchy display.

Summing Up

Samsung’s dedication to foldables is paying off. The Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series are a mega-hit worldwide. They have gotten rave reviews due to their ability to handle complex tasks such as SMS Share with ease. If the tech giant continues with this momentum we can expect the next devices in the foldables line to be out of this world.

In other news, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with One UI 3.1.1, which is based on Android 11, earlier this month. The foldable smartphone will receive Android OS updates as well as monthly security patches for three years. This is great news because it means users won't have to update their phones for a long time.
