Samsung has enabled Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Flip 3 functionalities to older devices

by Alicia Brown Application Developer

Samsung’s Unpacked event was filled with exciting new products including the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. The foldable devices are packed with premium features with high-end specs. While these phones ooze appeal, they are quite pricey hence budget-users may stick with their older devices for now.

If you want to enjoy the high-end features that come with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, thanks to the South Korean giant you can now access all the features on your device.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 functionality to older devices

You won't have to buy a Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Flip 3 to obtain the latest software. The original Fold, Fold 2, Flip, and Flip 5G will get a One UI 3.1.1 upgrade that will bring several of those phones' multitasking and app resizing features. Because of its larger, tablet-like screen, the Fold line benefits the most. Multi-Active Window (up to three apps open at the same time) and App Split View (viewing more content for an app) make the foldable display much more usable. You can also force programs to resize and rotate on your Fold, use the Taskbar to pin your favorites, and use the cover screen to reflect your internal display.

Owners of Flip phones aren't completely out of luck. All Samsung foldable owners can use Drag & Split to create a new window for an open app, and you can use Flex Mode to bring up media controls when the phone is partially folded.

The majority of these capabilities are rolling out today, though if you have the first Galaxy Fold, you'll have to wait an extra week. Not that it will bother you. This might make your older foldable far more useful, and it implies Samsung is anxious to reward the allegiance of early adopters if only to boost the chances that you'll buy another Fold or Flip when it's time to upgrade.

The aforementioned features will also make tasks such as content transfer much easier. We will have to wait for these upgrades to be completely rolled out to determine how much of a difference they make to the other devices.
