Samsung Galaxy S20 FE LTE model: What We Know So Far

by Alicia Brown Application Developer

Samsung is a South-Korean tech giant and one of the leading smartphone manufacturers. They are known for their innovative and premium smartphones. In the past year, the company has released a few hit devices including Samsung S20 and the Z fold series.

What We Know So Far

According to recent reports, Samsung has an LTE variant of the Galaxy S20 FE powered by the Snapdragon 865 chip under development. The variant in question was first discovered on the Wi-Fi Alliance database a few weeks ago. It seems to be yet another shock for those consumers who bought the LTE model last year and have no choice but to keep using the flawed Samsung’s Exynos 990 processor.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE LTE’s model number is SM-G780G, and except for the upgrade regarding the chip, there seem to be no other changes made. This might attract those consumers that want Samsung Pay since this variant includes an MST for making payments on conventional magnetic payment terminals.

The Bottom Line

As for now, it is quite unclear why the need for this variant arose. At a glance, it seems like another duplicate in the S20 series. The only possible reason is that Samsung wanted to add another device to its long line of flagship devices. Additionally, since Samsung is introducing the 5G model to the markets soon, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE LTE could be an alternative where 5G devices are not available.

All we can do is wait for more details to be released.
