Samsung Announces Android Security Update To Ensure Device Protection

Image Samsung Electronics Co. LTD is releasing a new monthly security update to its devices to keep them secure from any over-the-air (OTC) security issues that it might face.

Being the most leading mobile podium in terms of market share, android has been a target of many cyber bullies and hackers who are in constant efforts of spreading bugs onto the devices. South Korean giant Samsung is trying to implement ways of protecting its software from these bullies.

The electronics company has decided to device a new android security update procedure which will protect the device from any security vulnerabilities that might arise. These are called over-the-air (OTC) security patches. This mainly arose due to the recent issue that happened with Android Stagefright, Samsung has accelerated the process of security updates alongside with its partners and carriers. Stagefright is Android’s media playback engine that is built-in the software.

Currently, they have fast tracked its security updates to ensure fixes for Android Stagefright and for any future bugs or viruses that might arise. According to a blog post, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has stated that it will cite once-a-month security updates on its Galaxy devices just like Google will be doing for its Nexus devices.

According to Samsung updates, Dong Jin Koh, Executive VP and the Head of Mobile Research and Development at Samsung Electronics, said that due to the recent security issues that have surfaced they have been rethinking a way of getting updates on their devices in a well-timed manner. He added that their software is continually being sabotaged and their aim is to keep it protected as this is a critical issue for the users as well as the company itself. They believe that this update will not only protect the devices but also prove to be the best mobile experience for Samsung Galaxy users.

The company is currently in talks with the carriers and its partners worldwide to gadget this fresh tactic. Although as stated by Samsung news, the company has said that they will develop this system in the hands of Galaxy users regardless of the carriers, because in hands of the carriers it usually takes too long for the update process to carry out. Samsung is following in the steps of Google, as Google announced on August 5, 2015 of the same security updates for Android’s Nexus. Along with this they announced that they are offering 2 to 3 years updates guarantee for Nexus devices. 

Samsung has always been a company of innovations, futuristic technologies and a little glitch in the system such as the Samsung Stagefright bug is not going to stop it from being that. Further details of the time and models will be released soon, as currently the company along with its partners and carriers are working on developing the system.
