Samantha Barks and Laura Whitmore: Fascinator style at Derby Day at Epsom Racecourse

Les Mis' superstar Samantha Barks took some time out from the Hollywood highlife to watch the racing at the prestigious Epsom Derby on Saturday with her pal TV presenter Laura Whitmore.

Dressed to impress

Epsom is probably the most glamorous horse racing event of the year and both ladies were dressed in ensembles fit for royalty. Laura donned a sophisticated summery dress in white and nude tones and it looked fabulous with her gold fascinator and oversized clutch. She was so excited with her chic outfit, she took to Twitter:

"Feelin' fancy in my races attire," she tweeted.

That said, our favourite part of her look wasn't her outfit, it was her full of life honey-blonde hair.

Brunette Samantha, on the other hand, wore a chic little chignon in her hair: the style, tucked under her fascinator, not unlike her hair at the Cannes Film Festival. Samantha has her finger firm on the fashion pulse; her cobalt-blue and monochrome number was bang on trend with its innovative cut and we loved her coordinating fascinator. The elegant ensemble and swept-back hairstyle emphasised her adorable dimples and smokey eyes.

Royal occasion

Samantha has spent plenty of time with Hollywood royalty and, at the Surrey Race, she got to rub shoulders with British aristocracy including the Queen, Prince Philip and their grandchildren Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.

The Queen is known for her love of horse racing and it must have been a nice treat for the race day to be so close to her 60th coronation anniversary.

As always it was a star-studded event with Julie Kennedy, Jack Whitehall and Gemma Chan amongst the glamorous guests.

An appropriately titled horse named Ruler of the World raced to victory ridden by an elated Ryan Moor. Whether Sam backed the right horse is yet to be revealed but the ladies were certainly dressed to win. After a day at the races, Sam headed to the Chime for Change concert to see Beyoncé, Jay Z and support the campaign. Not a bad day in the life of a star.
